Chunky Tufted Scarf

This pattern uses simple repetitive knit/purl motif to create repeating tufts in and out from the center.

It uses one full skein of chunky yarn and is relatively quick to make!

Gauge

12 st x 16 rows in stockinette stitch = 4″ (10 cm) square

Materials

  • 1 skein bulky weight yarn (100m/100g)
  • US size 13 (9.00mm) knitting needles – flat or circular
  • 1 tapestry needle to weave in ends

Stitches Used

co – cast on
k – knit
p – purl
bo – bind off
sl wyif – slip purlwise with yarn in front

Notes

This scarf will look super short before blocking. I suggest hand washing with a wool wash and wet blocking to stretch to its finished size

Row 4: K2, p1, k2, p9, k2, p1, k1, sl wyif.

Row 5: K4, p2, k7, p2, k3, sl wyif.

Row 6: K2, p2, k2, p7, k2, p2, k1, sl wyif.

Row 7: (K5, p2) × 2, k4, sl wyif.

BO knitwise. Weave in all ends and block
